MEET YOUR MENTOR

ROBIN BACK

Hi, I’m Robin!

I have so much empathy for people struggling with anxiety. I know firsthand just painful and exhausting it can be.

My anxiety goes all the way back to early childhood. For years, my life was ruled by perfectionism, procrastination, separation anxiety, fear of rejection and abandonment, insomnia, panic attacks, and endless worry. It felt like I was constantly on edge, overwhelmed, and drowning in my own thoughts. There was this underlying sense of urgency in my body, always pushing me to do more, to be more. I could never fully relax.

It was hard feeling so alone in all of this because nobody seemed to understand just how much I was struggling. On the outside, it looked like I had it all together. I kept up appearances, excelled at school, and lived my life, but inside, I felt anxious, overwhelmed and depleted.

I tried just about everything - from talk therapy to medication and meditation - desperately searching for relief, but nothing seemed to break the cycle.

Despite developing coping strategies, the anxiety persisted and, if anything, it seemed to be worsening over time.

By this time, I had started working as a therapist in private practice and quickly realized just how many other people were going through struggles with anxiety that were similar to mine. It became clear that traditional approaches focused on changing thoughts fell short of providing lasting anxiety relief. My clients consistently told me, “I know my thoughts aren't realistic, but I still feel so anxious”.

That’s when I fully immersed myself into the science of anxiety to learn as much as I could about what it is, how it works, and how to become free from it.

Through this work, I eventually discovered the critical role of nervous system dysregulation in chronic anxiety - that’s when everything started to change.

Anxiety comes from a dysregulated nervous system that is stuck in a chronic state of fight-or-flight (aka survival mode). At it's core, it is a physiological process that lives within the body. Traditional cognitive approaches that work with our thoughts fall short because they don't address what's happening in the body.

Once I integrated the right nervous system and somatic (body-based) practices into my approach, I was not only able to help myself find the lasting relief I’d been looking for, but also had the privilege of guiding countless others toward their own healing.

While it took me a lot of time and experimentation to get to this point of healing, it doesn’t have to be that way for you. Drawing from over a decade of learning, education, and practical experience, my mission is to help as many people as possible heal their nervous system, overcome anxiety and reclaim their life.

No matter who you are or where you’re at in your journey, lasting relief is within reach, and it all begins with regulating your nervous system.
